Gray Day

Tonight's dinner: roasted chicken, mashed cauliflower, broccoli, and roasted carrots. It was so good! Now who will do the dishes? In a perfect world, it would make enough for more meals, but I think combining it all might make lunch. And we're out of that delicious Soulard spice blend -- time for a trip to the farmer's market!

Today I ran 5 miles and then did Piyo and Turbofire at the gym. I LOVE kicking and punching! I wanted to run further, but it was gray and damp and cold. Not great for the first day of May. It's supposed to be spring, right? Really, the temperature was 57, but it was so windy!

While I was on my run today, I was thinking about how I started running. I used an app called "Get Running" which tells you "Run now" and "Walk now" in a very pleasant British voice. At the end of the program, you should be able to run a 5k (although I ran more days than the app suggested, and I had to run longer, since I wasn't fast). And now I just run! But I like to take block-long walk breaks at each mile. Psychologically it helps me go further. I've come a long way since then. I get Runner's World magazine! I know running terms like fartlek, tempo run, and PR. I have medals! Best $0.99 I ever spent!
