111 miles...and counting!

Since it's the end of June, and the year is half over, it's time for a check in.

538.25 miles run this year so far
151 miles walked this year so far
689.25 total mileage for the year!

Since this is my theme song (500 Miles) and my goal is 1,000 miles a year, I'm "on my way, from misery to happiness today. Uh huh uh huh uh huh yeah" (Another Proclaimers song).
And if you LOVE LOVE LOVE Doctor Who, here's another version that you have to check out RIGHT NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPKgPB80jNA.

Today I ran 9.5 -- it was supposed to be 10, but I never start early enough to comfortably think I have time to finish! Then I went to Piyo and Zumba. The last 10 minutes of Zumba were kind of rough, but I made it through.

We're having grilled chicken and zoodles for dinner tonight. (I have to go make the zoodles!) It should be a nice light dinner for summer. (See the Zoodles post here.)

Shut Up Shrimp

I made myself a "bowl" for dinner. It's so good, you have to say "shut up"!

Easy as 1-2-3. Broccoli in a pot with some oil. Cook until bright green, but still crunchy.
Steam your rice. (Or quinoa or whatever you want. We had a huge bag of unopened rice.)
I put olive oil in a pan and warmed it, then cooked the shrimp til it was white-pink on both sides, then added BBQ sauce while the rice was finishing. You could use teriyaki or any kind of sauce, but I was thinking BBQ would be delicious...I meant to add fresh pineapple, too, but I forgot. That might have been TOO good!
The best thing? LEFTOVERS for lunch tomorrow!

I went to Piyo and Turbo Sport and got my sweat on. It was so hot we had to turn the lights out! We did the Turbo section twice cuz we're warriors! haha

Tomorrow I'm running 2 miles before work, and Saturday, I'm debating if I want to run 10 miles or go to class...I hate to miss a Saturday morning! Maybe I'll do both! If I can make it through Zumba after running 10 miles, I think that shows I'm ready for the half marathon! I just have to get up early enough to fit it all in...and a nap later!

.5 miles to go!

I was always an English person, not a math person. I was planning to run 2 miles tomorrow morning to make it to 100 miles for the month, but when I added today's mileage, it turns out I only have .5 miles left! 99.5/100. I could have looped around the park and finished today! (Not that that means I get the rest of the month off!)

I did the loop that Steve normally runs, which we refer to as "the railroad tracks." Here is the graffiti that I laugh at every time I pass it. What do you think it means? Do you think someone is selling drugs???? Subtle. Of course, there's another cryptic message about a mile up the road (in the middle of the road, which is why there isn't a picture) that reads "I am a stoner." I guess I'll never understand what it could possibly mean.

I thought I'd be nice to Chico and let him play outside, and he rolled around in SOMETHING in the backyard until he smelled like death, so he got a bath. After he finally stopped shaking, he took a nap. If only I thought he'd learned his lesson.

I just realized that next week is July 4th week, and I might not be able to get to the gym ALL week between cancelled classes and fireworks and work! Don't worry, I already have my long run scheduled.

Couch Daydreams

When I got up this morning, it was raining. No run outside. I went to the park at noon and ran a mile, and checked out the fitness equipment they installed. It was pretty awesome. There's one machine where you're supposed to put the bars on your shoulders and do squats and the bars provide resistance. Unfortunately, I'm too short, so it really didn't do anything! I guess the squats are good in any case. 91/100 miles for the month. And I signed up for 100 miles in July--it's what I do anyway! Might as well be part of something.

My sister sent me this picture. In my case, it's more like, I completed a half marathon, I'll never be able to do a full...wait, I feel great today. Maybe I should try for a full marathon! So I'm sitting on my couch, looking at full marathons. There's one in April next year....maybe I should get through the two half marathons that I've scheduled first.

I've been eating egg burritos. I forgot how much I love them! (Because they definitely aren't Paleo!) Scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese, and tortillas. I bought the flour kind and hid them from Steve in the cheese drawer. Corn tortillas just aren't the same.

Pineapples and Pits

First I'll tell you the gross thing, and if your stomach isn't turned, I'll give you a recipe.

Went to the gym today, and was so sweaty I could smell myself. EWWWWWW. That never happens! It was warm in there, and it's humid out. Silly St. Louis weather. I ran five miles this morning (88/100 miles for 100 mile June -- 12 more to go!). The first mile was super slow because I was trying to get my iPhone to stream music and the app kept crashing. Luckily I didn't crash since I wasn't watching my feet. I finally managed to get the mix to play. I highly recommend Jump, Jive & Jog -- a mix from rockmyrun.com. It's big band/swing, and it's AWESOME. My second mile was 10:33--much better once I got the beat going!

Ok, the recipe. Steve made us smoothies last night with fresh pineapple (well, already cut up and cubed, but not in a can), coconut milk, banana and ice. (Use about a cup each pineapple and coconut milk -- it was enough for both of us to have a glass) He found the recipe on Paula Deen's site. It was really good, but I told him to use frozen banana next time, since the ice kind of melted. That would make it more like a pina colada. It seems similar to the pineapple whip recipe I've seen a lot on Pinterest. It's just pineapple, almond milk, and honey, but since Steve can't have almond milk, we'd use the coconut milk.

I found a recipe for peach frozen yogurt. It's basically yogurt, honey, frozen peaches, and lemon juice. I'm thinking, though, that frozen bananas and peaches blended together would make a good "ice cream" and it shouldn't even need additional sugar/honey!

One of my friends just grilled her pineapple, as well. So many good summer recipes!

Make New Friends

I pass a lot of the same people when I run, because we're obviously on the same schedule. I passed a lady today who looked familiar, and then when I turned around, I passed her again! She stopped me to chat, and mentioned that the Solstice Run last night was cancelled "because of a little thunder." (Understatement: it looked like the end of the world out there!) It turns out we both ran the Rotary 5k this month.

Tree on my route, right near the turnaround.
The flowers are so heavy that this branch was
hanging down!
Her name is Rose, and she's in her sixties. She was sporting a Garman watch and a 5k necklace and some pretty nice running gear. She said she walks a bunch of 5ks and because of her age group, sometimes she places, even though she's a walker. But if she gets 4th or 5th place, she'll go to the trophy store and order herself a medal! Now THAT'S a winning attitude! She's doing another 5k this Saturday.

She also said her husband was doing 3 miles while she did 4 today, which meant that he was going to beat her home to the shower!

I love it that she competes in all these races, even though she's a walker, and she doesn't care if she's last, just that she got out there and finished. I know there are some runners that are elitists, and they think if you aren't fast, you shouldn't bother to show up, but MOST runners are just happy to see another runner! Join us. We have Gatorade!

Fit Bit User Error

So I walked ALL OVER the zoo today, and my fitbit was still showing that I was on the first dot! WHAT?! I was convinced that the battery had died or something...but it was still lighting up. I forgot that I reset the steps to 30,000 after my 10-mile run yesterday! Oops! Turns out I was almost at 10,000 when we left! Big Fat Duh.

We saw a peacock, with its feathers extended. Awesome! He was preening for two hens that couldn't care less :)

It was HOT today, but we managed until lunch time. We stopped at Qdoba for lunch on the way home (I was so happy that McDonald's was taken off the table!) and I got a burrito because I was famished. I still didn't finish the whole thing, but it hit the spot!

We went to the BBQ competition for dinner and shared some ribs. All the booths were packing up because the main competition happened over lunch, and it was looking like rain. We rushed to get some ice cream and beat the storm. Now I'm just sitting here watching the lightning. As long as it doesn't hail on my car!!

All in all, it was a pretty great summer Saturday. I may have eaten too much, considered I didn't formally exercise! but hey, a banana milkshake counts as fruit, right? (IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD.)

10 Miles and Two People Who Think I'm Hot

I had to run my long run today because I'm going to the zoo in the morning tomorrow (before it gets too hot!). I was only going to do 8 miles, because of time, but I felt good and pushed it to 10. Unfortunately, it was about 312% humidity, and I was soaked! I tried to get a picture, but my shirt just looks darker blue -- time to get some sweat-wicking tank tops. I normally don't like them because they smell SO BAD when you're done, but I think it might be necessary! I tied up one side like an 80s super star, and the edge of the t-shirt chafed my hips on both sides!! Yes, I left without Body Glide. It's hard to get back in the habit, but it's summer, and it's ESSENTIAL for runs longer than 5 miles.

Some thoughts on the run:

1. Why is mile 8 easier to run than mile 1? (I know, it's because you're in a groove and you feel like you can run all day...) I decided that runs are like work weeks. Mile 1 is Monday, and if you could just skip it, the whole thing would go easier... and the end of the run is like the weekend!

2. Some guy gave me a thumbs up out the window of his SUV while I was running up a hill. Totally made me run faster. Not as good as the "live long and prosper" wave, but appreciated! Then there was some dude who got all pissy because a car let me go in front of them, and he honked like a maniac, forcing me to flip him the double bird. Seriously, jerkface. I'm RUNNING home. You'll get there soon enough. Plus, pedestrians have the right of way.

3. Should I get a donut as a reward? I think I'll get a donut. What kind of donut? I'm totally going to get a donut. DONUT. (I got a donut. They didn't have a cinnamon sugar one, so I got chocolate covered, and it was good, but not as good as cinnamon sugar. Oh crap, I should've gotten an Auntie Anne's pretzel instead! Maybe next week)

4. I'm on top of the world! You can't see the hill really from the picture, but it slopes down, and is quite impressive.

Also, I saw a turtle. I wondered if I should move him out of the road, but I didn't want to get turtle germs. I tried to scare him a little, out of traffic at least.

So then I got cleaned up, went for my donut (I just realized it's probably Stephanie Plum's fault), and some guy gave me the gross smoochy face out the window of his truck as he drove by (again, thanks for letting a pedestrian cross, dude). I don't think I looked THAT good, but I guess the sentiment is appreciated. Thank goodness I'm married.

78/100 miles for the month -- 81 if you count the few miles that I walked the other day to get to 10,000 steps (which I don't).

Holy Thunder, Batman! Chico is freaking out! We were going to go to a BBQ Fest for dinner...not sure now!

No Good, Very Bad Day

TWO HOURS. That's how long it took to get home from work today because a tractor trailer flipped and closed BOTH sides of the highway. Not both lanes. North and South. We figured out where we were going, but an Ameren truck driver made sure to roll down his window and give us directions, confirming that we were right (and that even though it was two girls in the car, we are awesome enough to read a map!). Thanks, dude! That makes up for the jerk in the red truck who wasn't letting ANYONE in and flipped us off when we pulled in front of him. It took 45 minutes to go a mile and a half. What's one more car? There was an ICEE truck in front of us...I thought about jumping out and asking if they could get me a red one!

Choices: go home and eat the frustration away, or go to the gym...

I chose the gym, and it turns out the rest of the class chose calories, because there were only two of us there! Still, I was glad I chose the gym. (And then afterward I had the calories) We did Turbo Sport again, which was created to show me that I still don't really know my right from my left apparently!

I'm starting Top-Secret Twenty-One today, as my treadmill book (today, just to reach 10,000 steps). I have to read it on the treadmill because the characters in the books are always stopping for donuts and fried chicken and deli sandwiches, and it makes a person hungry! Not to mention the family dinners Stephanie Plum is always showing up for -- and that always end with dessert!

Workout Clothes Are More Than a Fashion Statement

Remember Monday when we had an awesome workout? Tuesday reminded me that sometimes the gym wins...

First, I forgot to change into a sports bra before I left the house, and didn't even think about it until we started jumping around in the first song. Big mistake! Then, I was having a "fat day" so I thought I'd wear the size L running shorts...which are apparently too L, because they were totally falling down! So I'm clutching Zumba sticks in one hand, and my shorts with the other, while trying to stuff my chest back down into my inadequate bra AND keep bopping to the beat! I stayed in the back on purpose...I hope no one noticed!!!! Also, I thought my tank top matched my shorts, but the gym mirrors disagreed. I was a hot, sweaty mess!

I felt bad for the lady next to me. She was new, and she was having problems catching on to the one song...luckily for me, I think when I started going to the gym, the instructor was intro-ing a bunch of new material, so she demonstrated a lot of the songs first. I wasn't sure if I should try to help (right, left, right, right, right, now BACK!) or if I should just let her flounder and know that she'll catch on eventually -- the rest of us did. What's proper gym etiquette? I think I'd appreciate the help!

In other news, summer has arrived in St. Louis, which means HOT AND HUMID from the minute you wake up in the morning. Yesterday I managed 2 miles before I gave up, and today (because of a God-sent breeze) I made it four. I hope my body will acclimate soon...if not, I'll be the one wearing a wet towel over my head.

Smash Your Face In Fitness

So tonight at Kickboxing, the instructor actually said, "Picture someone's face" during the last song, so we'd hit harder. That's my kind of workout instructor. Plus, it's Monday, so I think all of us already were picturing something! Take that, alarm clock! Hey, boss, you want me to do what? Learn how to drive, mini van!

I've been working from home the last few weeks, and working from home is BAD. Home has refrigerators. Refrigerators have food. Food has calories! (At least, the junk food that keeps finding its way somehow into my house does.) I appreciate the flexibility, but I think I need a rigid schedule, like a toddler. Snack time at 10 am and not before! (And nap time at 2...)

We made lime marinated chicken on the grill tonight -- one fake lime full of juice (or you could probably be awesome and use REAL limes), 2 T apple cider vinegar, 2 T honey, 1 tea. salt, 1/2 tea. cilantro. Marinate, and grill! Bam!  (I'm guessing on all these amounts. I kind of just pour stuff into a bag, mix it with my hands to get the honey incorporated, and throw the chicken in.) I have some shrimp in the freezer that would have been so good too! I was trying to remember where I got the skewers last time, and I realized I bought the shrimp from the meat department already skewered! I guess I'll cook them over the stove, since it's easier. And then I'm going to eat them cold, over spinach! We made peach, strawberry vinaigrette and it turned out so sweet and good, with no added sugar! Because a snack of shrimp is healthier than Goldfish crackers any day!

62/100 miles for 100 mile June!

24,000 steps will get you through three states!

We came to Evansville, IN, again today. The town across the river in Kentucky was having a BBQ festival. I got a loaded baked potato with pulled pork, cheese, sour cream, BBQ sauce and onions. Why does it taste so good when someone else makes it? Oh right. Because I would just eat the potato and the pork at home. No cheese or sour cream. Still good. Just not as good. Plus it was a perfect, sunny, 80-degree day.
I ran 5 miles before I left. I saw the old guy who rides his bike in a three-piece suit. He's awesome. He told me, "Naw, girl, you're not tired. Lookin'  good." Another guy at the bus stop looked at his watch and said I was right on schedule. I hit snooze for about an hour this morning so either I do that every Saturday or his watch is wrong!
Then I mowed the lawn. Chico was outside with me and his paws are green!!
After lunch we hiked around the lake at Audubon state park (awesome), I climbed a tree, we got salads at Salad World (my kind of restaurant!!!!) and now we're at the Otters game. Long day. And miles to go before I sleep.
This salad has pineapple, mandarin oranges, cranberries, pecans, gets cheese, grilled chicken, and raspberry vinaigrette.

Over the Hump

Nine mile run today! Why was it nine? Because my legs were jell-o after Turbo Sport last night, that's why! I had two mantras "this is your race" and "you are healthy" ... plus I walked up the big hill! I was pretty consistent in my times for the first five-six miles (before the big hill) and then I slowed down some. I should have started a little earlier in the morning, when it was a little cooler, but I was feeling lazy. I still have five weeks of long runs left, so I hope I'll feel super prepared for the half marathon.

Fifty-three miles for the month so far! Someone pledge a dollar a mile to keep me going. Mama's gonna need some new running shows! I'm not proud. I'll put the Nike swash on my calf.

I was also thinking it would be cute to have my nephews and niece write their names on me before my half marathon so I can say they ran with me...if I get to see them beforehand. Travel plans have not yet been finalized. Which means "it's really bloody expensive and I'm looking for a cheaper flight."

I read in Runner's World that (some runners' opinion is) if you can run a half marathon, you can do a full. It might hurt, and you might have to walk some of it, but you can do it. I think that's probably accurate. I'm on the fine edge of "I probably COULD run for five+ hours....but do I WANT to." I wish I had a (slow) training partner that wanted to run one with me...and we could find a nice walker-friendly race, and do it together!

I ran out of bananas to make my monkey bowl, so I used an apple instead. Apple, peanut butter, coconut, chocolate chips. It was not as delicious as the banana :) but it was pretty good! I might have a second favorite. Otherwise, the six-week summer challenge is over, and I weighed out this morning, so I pretty much carb-loaded all day! Can you undo six weeks of work in one day (even if you did run 9 miles)?? I guess we'll see tomorrow!

Primo Leftovers

So we made zoodles the other night, and I also made this dressing. Tonight, I took broccoli, the last yellow squash, the leftover chicken we marinated in the Italian dressing, the rest of the cherry tomatoes, and the Zoodles, and stir fried it (I LOVE MY WOK).  I added Parmesan and mozarella to mine, and some more of the Italian dressing. It was so good. The picture is the cooked veggies and chicken before the zoodles were added. They weren't as mushy as I feared. In fact, they were good! (I don't know about the one serving we have left to warm up, though.)

For dessert, we're having peaches. Does anyone know...every other peach I cut up, my knife goes THROUGH the pit. Is that right?! One of them appeared to be moldy INSIDE so I threw it out. How does that happen?? How are you supposed to know if they're ok to eat?

I was planning to have cupcakes or something for dinner because I did the new Turbo Sport workout at the gym tonight, and it was killer. Especially after a half hour of Piyo with all those squats! I hope I can run tomorrow!! I want to do 10 miles if it's not raining. (44 miles down, 56 to do! Almost halfway!)

Taco Salad

Chico and I made taco salad today! It involved trips to three stores, but eventually we got it right.

*Not my dog
I used ground turkey and made my own taco seasoning (1 T chili powder, 1/2 tea. garlic powder, 1/4 tea. onion powder, 1/2 tea. dried oregano, 1/2 tea paprika, 1 1/2 tea. cumin, 1 tea. sea salt, and 1 tea. black pepper). Then I used about a tablespoon with about a half pound of ground turkey, since I split the turkey for another recipe. It could've used a little more seasoning, but it was ok for my first try. First, I tried the turkey on shredded lettuce with some sharp cheddar cheese, but it needed more, so I added cherry salsa, sour cream, and some tortillas. Then, it was delicioso! I made some more zoodles and turned them into "pasta" salad with tomatoes, broccoli, artichokes, chicken, and this Italian dressing. I LOVE this dressing. We marinated the chicken in it before we grilled it, and it tasted just like the chicken BBQ they have in my hometown. Next time I'll do a little less salt, though. (It could just be my liberal measuring techniques! Note: we used Cleveland mustard for the mustard, which I'm sure took the dressing from great to phenomenal. Rules for life: Heinz ketchup, Cleveland stadium/ballpark mustard.)

I managed to run 5 miles this morning, even though my legs were sore from kickboxing last night. Never, never, never take a break from exercising, even if you're travelling. Your muscles will pay! I did Zumba tonight, and when we left, it was pouring down rain. Yes, I was already soaked with sweat, but my shoes got squishy from the huge puddles everywhere! I hate that!

This week is "bring a friend" week at the gym -- free classes! Yay! I had a friend who wanted to try it out, but I think the day that would work (Saturday), there aren't any classes because of a charity race/walk! Oops! I think if I ask nice, they'll still let her try it out for free sometime. :)

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggety Jog

I seriously hate driving across 70 because it's boring. And when you're bored and trying to drive 8 hours, you get tired. And when you get tired, you eat to stay awake. And when you eat junk food in the car for 8 hours (even if it's organic popcorn), you feel like craaaaap when you get home!
Here are some highlights from the trip.
GLUTEN FREE QUESADILLAS. Thank you to La Senorita for being super accommodating. They had to make the chicken special for us (no mesquite seasoning), and switch out corn tortillas, but they were yummy. He had a salad, which comes with the same chicken, so new chicken for him too! I ordered specifically so I could share mine with him, which was so nice to be able to do! Our poor waitress was terrified she was going to make Steve sick. Good. That is the right attitude. :) We were grateful and she told us to come back any time at the end of the night. Hopefully serving us helped her be more familiar with their GF menu (they had a whole binder of allergens and what people could order if they can't have peanuts, shellfish, gluten, and vegan/vegetarian offerings etc.)

Here is Huntington Beach. You can barely see the lighthouse, where they serve ice cream. (We didn't get on principle because I used to LOVE Honey Hut ice cream and they switched out the brand. Boooo)

Here is the deer I saw on my run. (I ran from the hotel, down to the water and back.) He was about 10 feet away, but too small to eat (haha). He started to run when I took the picture, but before that, we were starting to be friends! (He runs faster than I do.)

Speaking of running, there was an overturned tractor trailer on the way home, and here's how fast we were going for FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. Yes, I can run faster than that.

So here's the analysis. I love to travel. Taking food in plastic containers and soft-sided coolers DID NOT work, so we need to invest in an Igloo--preferably one that plugs in to the adapter in the car. Our food was hot then cold then hot then cold, and that is NOT good. The spaghetti squash was foaming when we got home. EW. Ain't nobody eating that! (Except maybe the raccoons.) I am tempted by GOOD ballpark pretzels. I need to find someone who can eat gluten to share them with because I ate THREE (in three nights) and it was TOO MUCH. I think the yeast continued to expand the dough in my stomach. Worth it. I need to learn to like coffee so I can eat espresso beans, like Steve does, because I kept snacking in the car to stay awake. So...two pounds gained (not tooooo bad).

And here's my dog. Happy that we're home!!! I wish I could take him everywhere, but if I haven't mentioned it before, he's not a good dog that plays well with others!

100 Mile June - 10 mile run

28 miles down. 72 to go!

Yesterday I didn't run, but I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to get over 7,500 steps. Not bad! Today I had a 10 mile run scheduled. When I woke up, my back was stiff, and I really didn't want to run that far, but I knew I had to, since I had planned it, and I needed to get my long run in for the week. It was cool when I started, so I wore capris and a long-sleeved shirt, and then I was hot! Not to mention the traffic!! I finally stopped pausing the running app, because I kind of wanted to see how much time all the lights and cars and idiot drivers who refuse to give pedestrians the right of way were adding to my run! I swear, I spent at least 10 minutes waiting at stop lights! It's so frustrating to have to stop! Of course, my time was abysmal. At least I ran all but .2 miles of the 10 (I figured I deserved to walk part of the way up the huge hill in mile 8).

At least 1.5 miles of it was along the coast of the Grand Traverse Bay. I love going on vacation and running new routes. It doesn't seem as long, because everything is new -- but it's not like a race, so you can just enjoy it!

These pics are from the tip of the Peninsula. We ended up eating at Mackinaw Brewery for lunch. Steve had the spinach salad with dried cherries (since Traverse City is known for cherries!) and I had the special (always get the special) of mahi mahi with pineapple salsa. It was spicier than I thought it would be! (Sorry, it was cold in the restaurant -- no pictures. We ate quick and got back outside!)

26,000 steps today and counting. Woo!

National Run Day Run

Happy National Run Day! I hope you had a chance to go out and run. We woke up this morning it was RAINING! Thunder and lightning rain, too, not just a sprinkle. There went my plans of getting in 5 miles! I was super bummed. We drove to Schaumburg for the game tonight, and we got here in time to go to the forest preserve in Elk Grove, so I ran 3 miles out and back for a total of six. The trail loops around and is 7.7, so Steve ran the whole thing, but I didn't have time to do the whole loop before he finished. Somewhere, if I had kept going, there are actual elk, which I think is pretty cool, but I missed them. I ran from where we parked on the "red" trail to the bridge. I thought that was a good place to turn around, although I did run to the middle of it first!
It was kind of a cloudy, misty day, as you can tell by my FABULOUS hairstyle when I finished! At least the scenery is nice (and it's a flat route!). There were people fishing, and some on bikes. I have to say, the runners I passed weren't very friendly. I thought I'd get a few waves at least.

I just banged my knee and I think I bruised it, so I'm in more pain from being a klutz than from running!

Kale Chips!

So I jumped on the bandwagon and made kale chips. They're pretty easy to do. Olive oil, sea salt, and 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Yes, it still tastes like kale. But it also tastes like oil and salt, so you don't mind so much! I'm not sure how they'll be tomorrow, since I put more olive oil than the recipe said (2 T -- I just kind of poured it on!) so they're kind of greasy in the bag. But they were good straight out of the oven. I can see how people say they could eat the whole pan.

I also made spaghetti squash casserole. Spaghetti squash (12 minutes in the microwave, shred with fork), ground turkey (browned), and diced tomatoes (2 cans). It's good with Parmesan cheese.

We went to the Cardinals game tonight. A client had suite tickets, and I'm ruined for any other seats in the ballpark! They had a buffet and a private bathroom, and air conditioning in the 90 degree heat!  Plus the sun wasn't in our eyes! it was a good game, even if they did lose 8-7 to the Royals. The hot dogs are gluten free (but not the buns) and so are the turkey legs! Always good to know there are options. ;)

I ran 5 miles today, so my 100 miles in June is already down to 88. Five or six more tomorrow. It's so humid. I was dripping with sweat by the time I got home!

Go Buy a Tomato. NOW!

Tonight's dinner: tuna fish on tomatoes! It was so good! We got the tomatoes at the farmers market, and Steve made his tuna salad with mustard and relish, and I made mine with mayo and cheese. With a little bit of salt on the tomatoes, it was like an open faced sandwich (without the bread, of course). I asked Steve to take a picture of his, so here's what you can expect :)
We went to a River City Rascals game yesterday. My seat was right behind home plate, but it was sunny, and so hot! Can you see the rainbow? I don't know if it speaks to the game, but I could hear everyone around me talking about it!
We stopped beforehand to get gluten free pizza. Looks good, huh? It was...although we like thin crust and this was a little thicker than we'd prefer. I don't know if you could even tell it was gluten free if you didn't know, although it lacked that chewy gluten quality. Nice to have something different for a change. I appreciate the restaurant offering it!
I went to Zumba and kickboxing tonight. I sure hope they turn the air up in there this summer, or it's going to be three miserable months of workouts! I am planning to run at least 100 miles in June. That's usually my goal, but I hate to say 120 or 150 and not hit it. If you run an average of 3.1 miles a day you can get to 100 easily. I'm planning to get up early tomorrow and run 5 or 6 or 7 or 8....I haven't decided yet. We'll see how my back feels in the morning. I was throwing some hard punches at kickboxing! Because I am an animal! haha
